Let's take a look at Keri Hilson's brown smokey eyes....This color combo really makes her eyes POP. Remember when doing heavy shadow, to prime the eyelid with either an 'eyelid primer' like Urban Decay Primer Potion ($18 retail) or at least a concealer prior to applying shadow. It will help the shadow to stay on and stay true to the colors you are applying. A tip to open up the eyes is to apply a little golden sparkle shadow on the inner corners of the eye. Make sure to blend, blend, blend. I cannot emphasize enough when you are doing smokey eyes, you must not have a line of demarcation - it should look like it is blended up and off the eye corners with ease. Don't be afraid to use plums/purples, browns, greens and any other color to do smokey (only black is a thing of the PAST). They used a perfect balance of dark eyes and light pink/natural lips on Keri which looks FABULOUS. LOVE it!
